Angie has lived in Charlotte since late 2002, after growing up in the mountains of upstate NY. After six years in the optical field, then four years selling real estate in the Lake Norman region, she is delighted to have the opportunity to depart the corporate world and to be living what she has loved for so long. In late 2008, Divine Shanti Yoga was developed and she teaches yoga and meditation full time at various locations.
Her Yoga practice began in 1995 as a home practice with a book she found at a thrift store in upstate NY. She continued to study Yoga in college until 2002 with Retha Cazel and meditation with Elaine Corwin, both of Corning, NY. Angie has earned her teaching certification in Hatha yoga, with Iyengar alignment at Yandara Yoga Institute in Baja, Mexico and is a Yoga Alliance Registered Teacher. She is also a massage therapy student and looks forward to incorporating massage healing as an addition to her yoga services later this year.
Her greatest love is helping others become in tune with themselves through their bodies to discover their divine inner peace, or “divine shanti.” Amongst the many benefits of Yoga practice include: increased strength, flexibility and balance, greater resistance to illness, a more relaxed, less-stressed mind and more awareness of living in the moment. Visit DivineShantiYoga.com for more information about the healing art of Yoga.
Some of Angie’s other interests are her love for music, nature, Eastern philosophy and healing, gardening, tea-time, dancing, art and laughing. She is also a fine artist specializing in oil and acrylic paintings and a greater view of her gallery can be seen at CharlotteArtists.com.
